This week saw our first ever successful shipment to Amazon Europe

This week saw the first ever shipment from Tvilum to Amazon Europe warehouse. We have been doing business with Amazon in the US for some time, but so far, no deliveries have been made to its European counterpart. To get more insight, we spoke with Erol Erdogan, our Ecommerce Manager.

The shipment was made as part of Amazons new “Born to Run” program, which is available to a select group of companies and by invitation only. The new program enables producers to test out selling on Amazon for a 10-week period, after which the products will either be returned or sold to Amazon at a discount. If this trial period is successful, the products will be added to the Amazon permanent product offering.

The initial assortment consists of some of our best-selling products and, if proven successful, we will gradually expand the range. Given the strict palletization policy enforced by Amazon, not all of our products are suitable for sales on the platform though, so analysis must be conducted to map out products that fit into the size restrictions.

To select the first five products, Michael Leth and the FFA office at the warehouse went through a thorough palletization process where they investigated ways to make sure we are compliant with Amazon requirements, for example in terms of allowed overhang, etc.

Adding Amazon Europe to our ever-growing list of sales channels has been in the works for some time but was restarted after the Steens acquisition. Steens has a long history of selling via Amazon, so it was only natural that we also try to introduce Tvilum products into the mix. So, in many ways, being able to learn from the experience at Steens gave us a convenient head start. Among others, Pernille Toft, having the experience with Amazon from Steens, was able to get us on our way with Amazon far faster than we would have been able to achieve on our own. We have high hopes for our future with Amazon and hope to see both the assortment as well as sales volumes increase!
